Please tell me about your epidurals. Idk what I want to do. Please give me your opinions and experiences so I can try to make a decision. I’m due very soon and not knowing what to do is freaking me out.

Everyone is totally different, I was really against having one with my first born but had to give in and have one, I was shaking so bad, having panic attacks at the thought of having one but because of my sons positioning, and the amount of pain I was in with my hips I had to give in and have one, they had to hold off giving me one, due to how much I was panicking and shaking but then once I come to terms with having one and calmed down and the midwives went through it with me, I had it done it’s not as bad as you think, it’s definitely worth having it done if you have a low pain threshold, it’s a cold spray at the bottom of your back to “numb” the area and a injection in the bottom of your back ( it does sting I’m not going to lie) then they put the epidural in after it’s more uncomfortable then painful if I’m honest but don’t overthink it, when your in labour everyone labours differently x

I had my baby Tuesday and had an epidural and it was honestly the best decision I ever made. I had it early on and it really worked! I spent the time just feeling pressure contractions and laughing with my partner. When it came to pushing I laid off topping it up so I had more feeling down there, no pain just less numbness and I managed to push her out in 17 minutes. My experience was really positive with it and I had such a calm labour which is something I never thought I’d have

An epidural saved me honestly. My labour wasn’t progressing so I had been in early labour with no sleep for 48 hours before I was even taken into hospital, my baby was also back to back I could not have given birth without it x
