Tongue tie

Has anyone had their child's tongue tie divided? If so, how long until feeding was good? I've definitely seen improvements (been 10 days) but I still need to hold breast in place or it falls out, clicking sound during feeds due to taking in air and misshapen nipple after feed. Could this still get better or should it have resolved by now? Thanks

It depends on how old baby was when they got the procedure because if they have been eating a certain eay for so long it does take time to change habits. But I noticed the same for about 2 weeks that woukd happen but just reinforcing not a shallow latch!

It can take a bit for them to get used to it. When our son got his revised at 3 months I still had to adjust his latch. Have you been to an LC to make sure you’re using a method to ensure they latch correctly? After we got our revision done his pediatric chiropractor/LC was really helpful.

He was only 9 days old when he had it done. I feel like I know what I need to get him to do but can't (his hands are always in the way, he doesn't tilt head back and open wide and I feel like it is a fight every single feed to put him in a comfortable position!) The only follow up appointmets are via email, not sure I can afford to go back. Might have to check in with a local feeding team x

Definitely check in with a feeding team. You also may just need a third hand to breastfeed to keep baby’s arms/hands out of the way and allow you to tilt his head better. Both my kids have been the same way but with the added difficulty of having larger boobs and nipples that point down. My LC had told me I’m one of the rare people that’ll NEED a third hand breastfeeding. Unfortunately I didn’t have that so I had to go to exclusively pumping.

Daughter was 20days it’s been 5dsys since procedure and there is an improvement. Latch can be deeper though but I feel she’s learning to use her tongue properly.
