Click hip

My baby is 8 weeks old and at his 6 week check up, the doctor noticed his right hip was clicking (although it was fine when we left hospital and his 2 week check up). We have been referred to go to Merlin park for an ultrasound on his hip. Has anyone gone through this and can you share some light on the situation as I am very nervous about it all🙈

Not the same situation, but we had to get an ultrasound of my LOs hips because he was breech. Hip dysplasia is very common in breech babies so it’s standard practice. They take a bunch of measurements to make sure the pelvis is properly aligned. In my case there were no issues, but if there had been I was told that there’s a range of options based on severity. If it’s mild then the baby might just have to wear two diapers to help encourage the pelvis to open. If it’s more severe then they may have to wear some sort of hip brace for a while. My understanding is that it’s largely minimally invasive treatments

Okay thank you this has helped a lot! Glad your babies hips were okay also ☺️

It's crazy, they will ultrasound a baby. I really wish corrective chiropractic was more prevalent those machines are more harmful then good smh

Chiropractic is very very gentle for babies look 👀 https://youtu.be/f4-RhU2zWlE?si=JjFRO8GuyNeSQNh1

@Ericka ….. ultrasounding is not invasive at all. I’m not sure what you think is involved there. All they did was touch a small wand to his hip, he barely noticed it. There’s no radiation involved as there would be with the X-rays most chiropractors perform. chiropractic services, while they can be helpful, won’t correct hip dysplasia or other structural issues in the pelvis.

My baby was breech and emergency c section. Hips were fine on Borth but ultrasound as standard later on. Left hip was perfect. Right one mildly out by 4 degrees. Told to come back in 5 weeks to rescan to see if improved. That's this week. He said if it's still slightly out I'd have to wait 2 more weeks and have another scan and if not thrn it's the brace. I'm really hoping her hip socket is now deep enough to avoid a brace.
