Bath seat recommendations

When we first had LO we used the angel care bath support and upgraded to the angel care bath seat when he started to sit (around 7 months). He has recently started screaming in the bath and looking to be a bit uncomfortable in between his legs I think due to the design of the seat. The small strip of plastic that separates the leg holes doesn’t feel the most comfortable and it’s making it impossible to bath him as he seems to recline back and have his bits pushed right against it, I have to remove him from the seat to stop him screaming. He has always loved the bath, has one daily so it is definitely the seat causing the issue. He is sitting mainly independently now he is 8 months but I bath him by myself and I’m not sure he’s sturdy enough to sit in the bath whilst I wash his hair/take my hands off him as he does still sometimes fall backwards. Has anyone else had this issue? All bath seats 6m+ seem to be a similar design and I’m worried we are going to have the same problem! Any advice appreciated
