Excessive baby spit up

My son is 5 mo and he used to drink roughy 1l breastmilk. We combo feed now for about a month and last few days he’s been drinking only like 750-800ml a day and has so much spit up. Like almost full on vomit.

Could be that you actually over feeding him. Breastmilk and formula completely different in calorie content so therefore if he’s feeling full and you’re still feeding him formula he’s going to throw up the excess. Breastfed babies typically unlatch when they’re full and even with proper pace feeding techniques, they can unlatch from the bottle and show full cues.

@Emma oh yeah I completely forgot that there’s a limit in how much formula fed babies should drink😅 he does show cues that he’s full like pushing the bottle away and starting to be fussy but then he also shows hunger cues which confuse me so I distract him and he drinks but then spits up😅

Overfull cues can be very similar to hunger which is very confusing. Try making smaller bottles of formula, you can always make more. I hope I didn’t come across as patronising, that wasn’t my intention at all x

@EmmaNo no not at all!! Thanks for telling me, I completely forgot the fact that you can easily overfeed with formula as I didn’t have that problem before! I would feed him every 2 hours with breastmilk, maybe I just need to take a bit longer in between when I give him formula
