Scared

I’m 19 weeks along and I e yet to get my anatomy scan. Has anyone felt the movement of the baby yet or am I just getting paranoid for no reason? I’ve downloaded apps where we can hear the baby’s heartbeat and couldn’t find it, maybe because I am fat? Please suggest I’m just scared, it’s my first pregnancy.

It’s perfectly normal! I didn’t start feeling movements till plus 20 weeks. The first movements are hard to spot as they are very light and feels like a flutter. I now have a 5 week old! The heartbeat machines don’t work very well and it’s hard to find it yourself. You can also call your midwife if you are worried as I did that and they let me come in to check their heartbeat xx

I haven’t felt either yet but didn’t until 20 weeks with my first. It all depends on where your placenta is as well! If it’s at the front you might not feel anything for a while. It’s also very very hard to find the babies heartbeat on your own so don’t worry about that! X

I didn’t feel movement until about 22 weeks which is completely normal. Also, the “fetal heartbeat apps” don’t work. You could get a Doppler but they can cause anxiety.

I was 21 weeks when I started to feel movement so I wouldn’t worry. This is my first pregnancy too and I worried but my midwife buy me at ease and he’s very active now. X

Hey, it depends on the position of the placenta as well. I can’t feel kicks yet but sometimes I feel some weirdness. I did a scan at 17 weeks and baby was fine and I was told I have an anterior placenta which means it’s in the front and hence if baby kicks the placenta takes the impact first and I would hardly feel it. Also because of the anterior placenta it’s difficult to find the exact position of the baby to hear the heartbeat as again the placenta is in the between. When do you have your midwife appointment? We got to hear the heartbeat both at our private scan and 16 week midwife appointment.

Do you know where your placenta is? First time for us it was right across the front and it was well past 20 weeks I felt anything, but hopefully the scan will put your mind at rest 💗 I’d avoid trying to find a heartbeat yourself it will probably only add to anxiety. Had 20 week scan today, very active uncooperative chicken. You also know what it feels like second time around so lots of variables
