Tongue Tie Release??

Looking for stories from people who’ve had their baby’s tongue tie released… how old were they? How bad was the tongue tie? Did it help feeding significantly once it was released? Do you wish you did anything differently? Was the procedure really rough? TIA! 😢❤️

My baby was 6 weeks old. Her feeding was instantly better but took a few weeks for her to get used to the new movement. She was very dribbly for a while afterwards too.

@Rachel that’s so awesome! Did you have to go to an SLP or do any kind of PT afterward? Or did it kind of get better naturally on its own?

My daughter had tongue tie she had it snipped about 6weeks old. She is breastfeeding and was feeding fine but I noticed that it was looking worse and sometimes made a clicking noise when feeding so had it checked and they were surprised she was feeding so well as it was bad tongue tie! They lay baby down and swaddle them and use special scissors to cut the tongue tie, then they just put gauze under tongue and apply pressure to help stop bleeding then she went straight on the breast to soothe her. It happens very quick and she was absolutely fine after she had mummy cuddles and fed/soothed on the boob! Im glad I got it done as I noticed a difference in her suck straight away! It’s not nice for either of you to go through and I did cry when she cried but it’s better for them in the long run. They show you some techniques to continue at home to prevent tongue tie possibly rejoining but it’s literally using your finger in there mouth and getting them to move there tongue around etc xx

@connie thank you for all the details!! My baby girl is 6.5 weeks currently but just found out yesterday that she has one at an SLP. It’s not terrible but it’s definitely affecting her eating and she gets so frustrated :(

My newborn was born with a slight lip and tongue tie. The pediatrician took care of it at the hospital within 15 minutes. He told me that it would affect speech, feeding, etc. if it weren't taken care of sooner than later.

My son got It done at 15 months old, he had a tongue and a lip tie. The procedure was easy it’s just the stretches you have to do after that are hell! It’s better to do It asap so they don’t bite you

@Sydney we just did the exercises we were given. It healed really well and no issues!

12 days old. 90%. He was able to latch immediately but pain and his clicking when feeding took time. I wish I’d been given the tongue exercises immediately rather than a week later as it’s important to help them use their tongue asap. I didn’t watch procedure but it’s a piece of membrane and very thin. After some sugar water, a cuddle and feed he was fine

Oh man..I just went to a lactation consultation yesterday and my little girl also has a tongue tie 😔 I'm debating on getting it released...I'm just so worried because she isn't a great eater as is (has some bottle aversion as she's exclusively bottle fed) so I'm terrified that she will reject the bottle altogether if she's in pain afterwards 🙈 she's 11 weeks and on the lower end of percentiles
