Pilates Reformer

Did anyone continue to do Pilates reformer through 3rd trimester? If so, where did you go and what exercises did you AVOID to prevent diastasis recti? I feel like the instructor at my studio today had me doing exercises that were questionable …

I was doing pilates reformer throughout my whole pregnancy. But I specifically went to a prenatal Pilates class where the instructor knew which moves to avoid. Maybe speak to your instructor and find out what you can and can't do?

Hi! My Pilates instructor didn’t feel comfortable having me participate into the 3rd trimester, and it was too hard, so I moved to body weight exercises. What week are you? I don’t believe you can avoid diastasis recti completely, but it’s simple enough to heal post partum with consistency and good workouts that help safely!!!!

Hi! I was doing Pilates all the way till the day I gave birth. I went to Club Pilates which is nationwide. My studio was amazing at adjusting/modifying for me. Starting at 32 wks they did ask for me to bring in a doctor’s note each week. I was doing all classes level 1.5 and used a wedge for every class. I went every single day.

I teach & did Pilates up until bed rest. Did not get DR! Was really happy and blessed, it can happen to anyone. You need to be sure your instructors are well educated in prenatal. Just take it very easy.

I don’t have the answer to this, but I did have a 2-3ish finger width DR after my pregnancy and it’s almost completely closed now at 4 mos pp. I feel a little space behind my belly button but that’s it!! If you were doing Pilates before I think you’ll have no problem healing DR after delivery (if you get it)
