Childminder gave popcorn

My childminder mentioned that she gave my 2 year old (who doesn’t have their molars yet) popcorn as a snack today. I’m so surprised as usually she is really hot on safety. Just wondering people’s views on whether they would approach this with her or let it go? If yes, what’s the most sensitive and kind way of addressing my concern with her?

I wouldn’t let it go, it’s a major choking hazard and wouldn’t want her to give it again 🙈 I’d approach her and say you understand she’s usually great with safety, you’re happy with her, etc but this really isn’t okay and is a big choking hazard

@Jess thank you. I’m glad I’m not being overly sensitive about it. I was thinking i may say that as she hasn’t got her molars yet, can she not give popcorn. Does make you worry a bit!

I'd def not let it go as Jess mentioned about. Major choking hazard. NHS recommendation is not before 5yrs. Id just come out and say you don't want LO having popcorn esp as recommendations are not for under 5 x

At forest school today they were giving out popcorn and marshmallows to the toddlers and I was the only one who said no 🙃 I did actually question it and they were like oh well there's a lot of first aiders here 🙈

Everything is a potential choking hazard. A friend of my aunt's, their child has brain damage from a banana. If you'd rather them not have it then just mention that you prefer they offer a different snack.

@Natalie what a bizarre reply from them!

@Ellie yes true. I guess it’s not just about the food itself but the supervision and preparation of that food too.

I’d mention something, popcorn is listed as one of the top choking hazards for a reason. There’s just no point risking it when there’s so many other things toddlers can have x
