Anyone who experiences anxiety attacks, can you give me advice?

I’ve had very bad anxiety attacks at specific times in my life, but past few months the ones I get are my heart is beating irregularly OUT of my chest, literally lasted 3 days I thought I was gunna go into cardiac arrest by the third day fr. They’re triggered not out of nowhere but lately I feel the symptoms lingering for so long. The shakiness, my heart, i can’t take a deep breathe. I’ve tried slow deep breaths I just can’t get it. I feel like frozen and I can’t take a walk/break, I’m sahm to toddlers and a baby we don’t have money for childcare, don’t live in close states to fam, if I even separate myself in the kitchen they follow or all cry for me making me even more mentally scattered. Our car isn’t safe for rn so I’m just here. My fiancé works a lot so he can’t really take over. Im sorry it’s long I’m just so tired of feeling physically not well, I feel like I can’t get a grip please any tips for a struggling mama🫶🏻

Sounds more like a panic attack than an anxiety attack. I'm very familiar with both and panic attacks are on a whole different level. It really does feel like you're having a heart attack. If you're not able to focus on your breathing when it hits, try eating or chewing on something sour or put a cold ice pack on your chest. Both help reset the nervous system by giving your brain something to focus on. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to message me. Panic attacks can feel so debilitating, but they pass.

I’d seek out treatment if you’re not already on medications. It’s important to keep your doctor updated on your specific situation especially if you’re feeling symptoms for that long. As far as regulating your heart beat when the panic attack sets in I find breathing through a paper bag to be helpful. You should keep one in your purse if this happens often.

Temperature changes are gonna be your best friend 🫶🏼 I second everything @Annika said sour stuff like even lemon juice or sour Candies can be super helpful too

When I was getting panic attacks my Dr prescribed a placebo inhaler. It helped my mind focus one thing to help calm down. Maybe try finding something like that that will work for you. Also try Holding ice in your hand.

This is me lol I can relate I’m pregnant I think pregnancy brought my heart skips back but lately I been being calm feeling them

If they're lasting for days like that, you need some help. I found therapy and medication to be really helpful. For in the moment, I would literally lie still, take deep breaths and TELL my body it's fine. Like think loudly "shhhhh chest you are fine" on repeat. Deep breaths physiologically calm the nervous system. You can also do "grounding" so think of 1 thing you can taste, 2 things you can smell, 3 things you can feel, 4 things you can hear and 5 things you can see.

It sounds crazy but I use bubbles. You can only blow them if you take deep breaths and it keeps the kids busy and interested. I will just sit inside or outside for 30-45 min slow blowing bubbles.

@Annika I think you’re right and I also think the ice packs on my chest would help but it happens at such inconvenient times. I’ve realized it’s when I’m talking about something I feel is going to get heated and I get misunderstood I feel like pathetic being like I’m starting to feel panicky I need to stop when we’re talking and I’m just physically going through it

@Erika I feel I might pass out if I use a bag I tend to breathe heavy then quick and heavy but def trying this next time I have a paper bag thank you

@Parker 又 sour things sound interesting thank you

@Ellie ice definitely seems like a game changer thank you

@Ella I feel like I need to shake it out so bad but can’t thank you I’ll try to do that

@Isabella this one would be good I think and for the kids too if it’s around them maybe spill it everywhere cus they’re small but bubbles never hurt anybody
