When to change car seat?

My baby is 6.5 months old, we currently have the maxi cosi pebble which have used since birth, when did you change to a bigger car seat? And any recommendations?

The car seat has a maximum height and weight limit. Its a good idea to get close to those before changing up so you know what centiles baby is on, then you can buy a next stage seat to last as long as possible. For example if you've got a 9 month old on 90th centile, there's no point buying an 18kg limit seat which is only 5kg more than the baby car seat, you'd want a 36kg seat instead to make sure it lasts them

Getting the maxi cosi pebble was our worst mistake. It’s grown out of very quickly, either 83cm or 13kg. The following car seat which is then the pearl compatible with the base was also useless, for another £200 it only gives you an extra 5.5kg! Honestly I regretted it. At 9 months I went with a Swedish plus tested car seat as rear facing is much safer. We invested in the Be Safe Stretch which is rear facing until 36kg which means no more car seats!! Have a look into extended rear facing and Swedish plus tested car seats x

@Charley so funny we both literally said the same thing 😂 clearly knowledgable in car seats!

When they max out the limits

I highly recommend the Avionaut sky 2.0 (suitable from birth) when you move up a car seat, 25kg, extended rear facing seat. I had the cybex cloud z as a carrier first & maxed out the weight limit, took us to just off 18 months (he was only a 25th centile baby) x
