First Time mom

I’ve always loved babies, i’ve always dreamed of being a mom but now that my son is here I feel I have no connection with him and it’s like he’s not mine. I feel terrible for feeling like this. Anyone else experience this? how do I get pass it ?

How old is he? It can take time for bonding. X

@Amy 3 weeks tomorrow

Baby is still small and everything is so raw, you’ll be feeling out of sorts at the moment. It really can take time to bond with them, do as much skin to skin as possible. Obviously if you’re still feeling like it maybe speak with your doctor because it can be a sign of PPD but obviously you’re still in those early days the moment. You’re doing great it’s a huge adjustment and I think it’s underestimated / not spoken about how challenging it can be especially those first few months. You’ll get there, it’s normal and okay to feel like this xx

Don’t worry it takes time ☺️ that baby is going to steal ur heart before u know it . And will also drive u knots but please be patient and kind with his little heart ❤️

I can fully relate as I felt the same way. It took me a while to bond with my baby. I think there's so many people that say how they fall in love from the minute there born, it wasn't like that for me and many others it takes time to bond and get to know your baby. Like Amy said just see how you feel but if it doesn't ease in a few days go and see your gp as it can be a sign of postnatal depression. I had it severe but I was honest about how I felt and got the right support at the right time xx

@Leanne i’ve definitely already spoke up and said something to them because I knew this was not me. i’m currently taking zoloft hopefully that begins to work. what worked for you??

Aww that's great so glad you have opened up. I took searchline but also had Diazpan as searchline takes a while to work and I had horrendous anxiety. I also worked with the perinatal team who really helped. I also was very lucky and had brilliant family and friends support and I accepted any help and support they offered xx
