Reflux when does it stop?

I am absolutely fed up of my baby being sick. She vomits about 20 times a day, all I do is clean and I’m just fed up!! She is absolutely fine btw.. Does anyone know how long it can last? GP gave her gaviscon , it doesn’t do anything apart from causing constipation. Been to the GP many times now they seem to think I need to let it go .. I can’t put her to sleep in the crib cause she just doesn’t sleep she just vomits all night so I don’t know what else to do … any advice ?

With my first baby omeprazole helped massively but even then it didn’t go away until she was weaning really. It’s just something they grow out of and weaning helps as food sits heavier so it doesn’t come up as easy

For my baby I put the cot at an angle and I reduced my garlic and chilli consumption to a minimum, which really seemed to help because it was waaay worse when I was eating that. I am also taking probiotics and giving her baby probiotics once in a while. She still spits up occasionally. We keep her upright for half an hour after feeds, otherwise she definitely doesnt sleep on her cot. During the day she has contact naps upright.

With my first I moved my little one to stage 2 milk at about 4 months old. It’s thicker than stage 1 and stayed down much better. It’s exactly the same nutrition value. Not sure if this is recommend but might be worth a look into it x

With my first, I would hold him for 30 minutes after each feeding and tilted the crib so he was at an angle, but eventually, he grew out of it

My first had it and it stopped when I weaned him at 6 months. It did improve when we went onto anti reflux milk but he was still sick a fair bit.

I do tilt the crib and keep her upright 30 mins.. It’s horrible cause it feels like I want her to grow up fast and I struggle to enjoy this time 😔

@Marina very interesting point removing garlic and chili! Thank you I’ll try that too

@Marina do you consume dairy? Since I’ve cut it it’s better but still not great

@Vicky nope so for me it cant be that!

How much do you tilt the next2me? @Lulu @Vicky @Marina

@TMR i’ve tilted it to the max i think hahah luckily between the sheet and the sleeping bag she doesnt move much from the spot, but i cant do it if she’s not in the sleeping bag because we noticed she ends up slipping down.

We had this in the beginning but I think my baby was eating too much too fast and taking in air. Have you tried pacing the feed? If I think the pace is too fast, I stop her at 5/6 minutes, sit her up to burp her and then go again. I find this helps reduce the vomit rate considerably.

Omeprazole only thing that helped us. I still have to hold her upright after feeds, but she can sleep in her basket (tilted) at night, and lie on floor and play in day (I hated it that she couldn’t do this). She can’t go in the pram, and is still sick around every other day, but in so much less pain.

We have the same and have been recommended to see an osteopath. Our first appointment is tomorrow I’ll try and remember to pop back on here and let you know how it goes ☺️

@Megan i wonder why an osteopath? I am very interested to hear what they say, thank you!

I had the same issues from birth to 6 weeks, as soon as I came out of hospital I put my LO on Aptamil anti reflux got told off by the HV and got told to go back on the normal one, it continued, tried 5 different formulas, even GP prescribed milk allergy one and gaviscon, she was on that for 2 weeks it stunk like dog food, then started refusing a bottle, I then thought f*** this, I got soo fed up of seeing my LO in so much pain after every feed, so I put her back on the aptamil reflux increased the teat size to 2 and omg the change I wish I had listened to my own instincts and never listened to anyone, maybe worth a try it changed us for the better xx

My baby is like this. It's tiring. I've been prescribed omeprazole so will see if that works. I haven't eaten dairy or soya for nearly 3 weeks now and it's made no difference. He had a tongue tie released but it reattached. He's due to have it redone so I'm hoping that might help. X

@Marina My brother in law is an osteopath and he (naturally) suggested we see one! This is the link he sent us. https://www.osteopathclapham.com/blog/what-is-reflux We’ve had 1 session and no improvement yet but have more booked in.

Thanks Megan. This is useful and more in depth than I have seen before. I am taking my daughter to an osteopath and do think it’s helping. She seems more relaxed when feeding, and is releasing her wind better.
