Nursery

My daughter has been going to the nursery for over 5 months now and she still cries a lot most of the times when I drop her off - how much longer will that be? 🙈🥹 she loves it there, her key person and really has a good time, it is just in the morning when she gets unsettled - any advice? :)

My LG just stopped crying at drop offs about a month ago, she’s been going for 8months now.

Our son has been going since he was 1 year, he’s now almost 3 and I think he cried for quite a while 😂 he settled as soon as he got in and was distracted but I think it just takes them time to remember they’re ok without mummy! We were told to encourage discussing nursery at home, tell them ‘we’re going to play with *key workers name* today, isn’t that exciting?!’ Etc stuff like that. He now runs in and doesn’t even stop to give me a cuddle before he goes and half the time doesn’t even say bye 😂

It’s so individual to each child, my eldest son started nursery at 1 and cried every morning until he went to preschool at 3 and it started to settle down. My second son also started at one and cried maybe two or three times at the beginning and hasn’t had an issue since! We found talking about his friends / activities he’s doing or what we’ll do after nursery was helpful and also not lingering around at drop off made it easier for them to settle in x

My daughter is 4 in January, has been going to a childminder and then nursery since she was 1.5 and she still cries at drop off 😂😅 whereas my son (14 months) hasn’t cried one since he started going a couple of months ago 🤷🏼‍♀️ every child is different!

Some take a lot longer than others to settle in the morning, some don't often run in at all. We've been taking ours since January. Some days he runs in, others he clings but it's improving. We do what someone mentioned, talk about it really positively and the people there. Say "we're going to see *name*" or if we do something cool or he learns something new we say "oh wow, I think we should tell *name* about this next week". It's helped but it's not a catch all..sometimes we still get a "no"
