Baby scan pic

Did anyone else have a bad NHS scan and I asked the woman why as my daughters wasnt blury. She said people with high BMI don't get a clear picture. I was wondering if anyone had been in a similar situation and if the 20 week scan was better. It just makes me anxious about going to the NHS because I feel like I am been so judged for been fat and it's literally not my fault I was diagnosed with something that has made me gain weight. Just literally puts me down yeah I know I'm fat I don't need to hear it every second from the NHS

Not true, my bmi is on the higher side and we’ve had some fantastic scans- sounds like they couldn’t be bothered to re do it which is not fair

Yeah not at all true. Bmi of 50 and no trouble

@Caitlin awh okay really I guess it's nice to hear positiveness. When I asked her why my daughters was so clear and this one is so bad she really didn't like it and I think that is why she said what she said tbh

I have a bmi of 30 odd and I get clear pictures xxx

@Christina I've got my gender scan tomorrow so I am hoping I get a good pic I'm just like nervous you know now

I don't think BMI has much to do with the clarity of the scan. I did pay for a private gender determination scan and was told clarity of the images was dependent on my own water intake. I was told being well hydrated helps clear the abiotic fluid which makes the photo better.

@Christina I was fully hydrated though so not sure why it was so bad. I just don't think she could be arsed

I have a high-ish BMI (33) and all our 20 week scans were blurry because he was moving too much, my weight has never been mentioned. I found I had better pictures from a private scan, they actually gave us the 20week ones for free (our Trust usually charges) they were so blurry! I think it’s because they’re not really trying to get good photos, they’re trying to check what they need to whereas private will want to make sure you get a good pic!

That’s awful, sorry you went through it. If it’s bothering you I would complain x

@Laura that is true I guess but she did say she was trying to get a good picture. Maybe it was because baby was moving I dunno but like she made out it was my fault which I think was quite rude and not needed

@Caitlin thank you and I'll see how my next ones goes I don't really want to complain because I am scared they'll be nasty to me when I give birth x

Lots of things can impact it, baby position, if you have any scar tissue, quality of the machines etc.

I have a high bmi too and didn’t get any, I’ve had super clear ones before. She didn’t say it was because of that, it was because the baby was moving so much? So could have been that? X

@Becca oh yeah see I've probs got scar tissue as well cos I had section. I guess ill find out on my next scan x

@Kylie it must have been cos the baby was moving a lot as well it kept moving to the other side when she could see the baby x

Eurgh, she sounds like a complete dick. Don’t take any notice!! FYI all mine have been great quality and I’ve been really dehydrated and have a high BMI… I don’t think BMI is a factor, probs her just being shite at her job

Complain after.. I know what you mean. I’ve experience some lovely and some truly awful staff during my pregnancy, wait until after so you won’t have to worry x

@Laura it seems that way I hope I don't get her for my 20 week scan. And I probs will do actually x
