First choice primary school

I've got my heart set on a school which we practically live next door to after we went to the open day this afternoon. We took Ella and she was so amazed and her face kept lighting up 🥺 I proper got a feel for the place. I know not always you don't get your first choice, but I did Google and see 92% of pupils got their first choice in 2023, so this has me feeling hopeful 🤞🏻 April seems so far 😱 Anyone else going to be upset if they don't get their first choice?

Our first choice is where my little one goes to pre school. We arent likely to get in though because arent the catchment area. But we are only in the catchment for one school.

Yes I’m the same, I’ve looked round sooo many schools because I wanted to have 3 that I loved so I’d just be happy with what we got but the one closest to us is my favourite by far and I’m going to be gutted if he doesn’t get in. I can’t wait til April 😫

@Violet oh wow. You never know though 🤞🏻 There's no catchment for this school as of yet as it's fairly new (2014) and there are a few other schools within this area in close proximity that have an outstanding reputation as they are over 30 years old. I just got the best feel from this school so I'm praying!

@Lucy literally me. Gonna be stressing for the next 6 months 🤣🤣🤣 We walk past it every day and she thinks shs's going there soon 😱😱😱

I’m having literally the opposite problem 😭😭 I think working in a primary school has made this so much harder than I thought it would be. I’m yet to feel the way I’d hoped to about a school but I know it’s because I’m thinking too much with my professional head and not just my mum head. It’s so lovely that you’ve found the one that feels right, when you know you know, and even better that you could see Ella loved it too!! ☺️ Fingers crossed for April!

@Chloe schools where we are literally are so over crowded. We finally found one we liked an they said the catchment radius last year was 0.5 miles 😭🙄 literally got no hope!!

We’ve put 3 schools The one we want she’s basically guaranteed (catholic round the corner etc) We don’t want our third choice school - BUT we do want her to go to a catholic school and it’s our closest catholic school so if we don’t get the others we would get that one! I think if you’re that close and within catchment i can’t see her not getting in so fingers crossed xx

@Robyn It’s so hard- and 0.5 miles is ridiculously small. 😢 Makes it hard to know what to do for the best, when you don’t stand a chance unless you’re on the schools doorstep!!

@Robyn there's a school near me who's catchment radius was 0.22miles this year and 0.24miles the year before - crazy!! Seeing some more over the next few weeks. Hoping I'll get that feeling too!

If it's in your catchment area which it sounds like it is, you have a very good chance of getting it. The school we want isn't in our catchment area, and really don't know what we'd do if we don't get that You can apply for school out your catchment as long as you can get them too and from school, that's what our council has said

We’ve only viewed one school and that’s the only school I’m going to put down 🙈 it’s literally at the end of our road! (0.1 miles)I’m hopeful she’ll get it as they even offered my eldest a place but we rejected as she needed a specialist SEN school and has an EHCP with high needs to be met. We knew it wasn’t right for her but we said we’d definitely choose to send Lily there all we’ve heard is good things too x

@Kerrie we were recommended to put three choices otherwise you may just get given any school in the LA
