Cloth! Cheaper, fit better and are not hard to wash. The nappy lady has good info Also every nappy stays for approx 450 yrs

Cloth, hands down. No contest.

Disposable because we struggle to get laundry dry quickly and adding cloth nappies into the mix would be a nightmare. It’s a shame because I like the idea of reusables.

Disposable diapers were such a terrible idea. They are packed full of PFAS, parabens, and other forever chemicals (unsurprisingly since they are mostly plastic). And we know that many many of the named chemicals and plasticizers in diapers contribute to infertility, ovarian and thyroid cancers, etc. and recent studies now show definitely that infants DO absorb those chemicals, from diapers, right up through their most sensitive bits. Plus cloth is cheaper, cuter, far better for the environment, and reusable for next kids!!

We planned to use cloth from the start but became more flexible and bought several things of disposables. I wouldn’t refuse to use them but I do prefer cloth.

I use a combination of cloth and disposible. I try to use my cloth nappies during the day when I am at home and then disposibles I use at night and when we go out. Trying to get them dry is a nightmare when I can't put them outside, it can take up to a week to dry clothes indoors. We do have a tumble dryer but it's old and takes 5 hours to dry anything so that's a lot of electricity to use for a machine that's no efficient and we don't have the money to get a new one/ find out why it doesn't dry as well as it is hot in there.

Cloth. You get into a routine and it's not a big deal. We used disposables when travelling and also when baby had bad tummy I couldn't be bothered cleaning that.

We use cloth at home and disposable when out

Cloth during the day and disposable over night or when out for thr day. We use 1 packet of nappies per month.

Any tips for transitioning to reusable nappies? I want to steer away from the disposables but I live in Poland where we don’t have tumble dryers, in the winter when it’s so cold it can take forever for things to dry

CLOTH for me 1000% soooo many reasons why I’ve got like a list of 30 reasons legit. I’m saving 6000-7000 diapers from landfill for the one baby. That’s enough reason for me. Our bins don’t get so full so quickly and we have no diaper bin full of stinky disposables. The cloth diaper may smell a lil but after prewash it’s gone and doesn’t linger. The smell of used disposables reek, and lingers. And they are sooooo cute. Halloween prints anyone? 😂😵‍💫😈

Disposable. I struggle to dry washing as it is. I don't have a garden and no room for a dryer

I say both cloth can keep from getting rash, irritation and or chemical burns and disposable for on the go you can just toss it and go on with your day

We do cloth at home, disposable out if we are going to be out more than 3 hours

@Sophie can you use a spin dryer? £40 on amazon

@Helen please just toss that dryer out its wasting time and electricity. You can grab a cheaper spin dryer which will save you so much money in the long run

@Kat ensure you have enough of them plus the inserts as not all brands come with the inserts use liners if baby is on solids. Dont be afraid to try at home. Make sure you have a bucket or tub with lid so you can soak soiled nappies. Use a spin dryer they are awesome and clothses fully dry within 2 hours

@Laurie small spin dryer from amazon you can get on bucket sized even can get a manual one

@💚Niecey🇯🇲🇧🇧 I had literally never heard of these before! 😂 you learn something new every day!

Cloth! Only cloth keeps the poonamis in🤣If you are struggling with washing drying a good investment is a dehumidifier/ heated airer! Xx

Cloth for us. I find disposables smell awful and we had so may blow outs in them. Cloth also cause far less nappy rash (we only ever got a rash when teething)

@Sophie 😂 i just discovered them a couple of weeks ago. I was like whaaaaaaaaat!!! I saw a video of a woman using a manual one and then searched for one. Love them for the babies stuff

Cloth. Have you seen how cute the designs are these days?

@Heather yes and the colors don't run or fade

@💚Niecey🇯🇲🇧🇧 we don't have any money to replace ours at the moment. It's 7 years old so it's quiet old. When I go back to work I can save up for one in about 6 months so next summer 🫠🫣.it's not even been used much. Before baby it was used maybe 5 times a year.

How many cloth is good to have to start?

@Kat that depends on how you intend to use them and hoe many changes baby has in a day. Maybe grab 5 see how they go then get more of you like them

@Helen oh ok. How about doing an extra spin on the washing machine then hanging them in the warmest room of the house. Usually where the boiler is

I use both . I always think it’s handy to have some cloth nappies incase you run out of disposable ones .

I like the idea of cloth nappies I just can’t handle all the extra washing!

@Katie we actually ended up with less washing with cloth because we weren’t washing every single outfit she wore

both are good! disposables are just way more convenient obviously. i like cloth because they’re reusable and comfortable for my daughter, but sometimes i don’t feel like doing the whole washing routine

@Kat I don't have a tumble dryer. Use a dehumidifier and you can get quick dry nappies as well. Though I prefer the natural fibres personally.

Disposable nappies any day ss I have twins boys and worked out I used 100 In a week.

Following

Used disposable with my first 2, cloth with my third. I'll be clothing my 4th too. I'll never go back to disposable

Disposable, honest answer can’t be bothered with all the extra washing that comes with a cloth nappy x

Ain’t no way I’m reusing a shitty diaper sorry 😂😂😂

Those of you saying nappy do you live outside the U.S? Just curious

Cloth Nappies, we love them, my lo gets awful nappy rash in disposables. He also seems to prefer cloth, if he has to got.into a disposable he's desperate to get it off. Plus they look nicer, better for the environment and cheaper in the long run

@Sarah they do I’m sure- nappy is firmly a British term

@Victoria I mean, if your kid gets a blowout while wearing a cute outfit, do you just throw it in the garbage? Any time they vomit on their own shirt??

@Sarah Nappy is what we say instead of diaper in UK x

I would have liked to try clothes diaper, but that was a no from my husband as he felt already overwhelmed having to change nappies. I would have been the only one to do it. How did you get your partner on board? Also, does your nursery use clothes diaper? I also feel that the washing might be time consuming, isn't it?

@Marie my husband never debated it once he saw how bad the blow outs were 🙈 our nursery were more than happy to use them they just asked us to send Velcro in stead of popper fastening The washing really doesn’t take much time up. The machine does all the work. Until they are in solids the poo dissolves in water. So a quick wash on the machine to rinse then a long hot wash and it’s done.

@💚Niecey🇯🇲🇧🇧 the house says its 18, but it feels more like 14 because it's old and has zero insulation, which is why it takes usually a week in winter (I refuse to insulate it because I enjoy it being cool when it's hot in summer and that's becoming more desirable. Our friends have a new build and i want to sit in my underwear at theirs in summer because its just tooo hot! Where as i go back to mine and its gloriously cool inside) Our boilers in our loft, it used to live in the kitchen but I got it moved 2 years ago because I have a tiny kitchen and it was taking up valuable wall space.
