Can you take your toddler to an early scan?

I’m planning to book an early scan soon, but my husband and I have no choice but to bring our 19-month-old, as we don’t have any family nearby. Has anyone else taken their toddler to an early scan? I really want my husband to attend, so having him stay outside with our son isn’t a preferred option.

I got told if it’s NHS then no, private should be fine.. you can speak to receptionist at NHS if you are struggling. The reason we got told no is because of other people having fertility treatments and stuff x

NHS no as no children due to other people may be Havinf issues and not fair on them to see other children around which is understandable I felt the same with past miscarriages

I’ve seen most places ask not to bring children along. They can to later scans but not to the early ones x

The place we had our scan last pregnancy is only one guest allowed so we've purposely booked a different place this time, which is five guests allowed, as we'll have to take our 3yo with us

@Zoe may i ask Which private ultrasound clinic you booked the appointment at? We went to Ultrasound Direct with our first but i just read they dont recommend bringing children tonearly scans.

@Nora we used Window to the Womb for our first pregnancy which was so good but only 1 guest. This time we've booked with Hey Baby which had good reviews and allows 5. I can definitely see why some recommend not bringing children to early scans and we are prepared that it would be difficult to receive bad news and also parent a young child but we have no one who can look after her so we're going to just have to go with it I guess x

If it’s a private clinic then I’d assume everyone’s allowed. I think it’s just the NHS but just ask them x

@Zoe thanks so much! Yes, I heard WTTW was very popular when i was expecting my first baby but we chose a different clinic due to location. We are in the exact same situation, dont really have family nearby. It is so sad, isnt it, that due to our situation my husbant may not be able to attend the nhs scans bc someone needs to look after our son.

@Nora I actually emailed Hey Baby to check and they said they're very happy for our toddler to come along which is a relief, so maybe worth checking with a few. I hope your husband is able to come to your NHS scans. So tricky isn't it 😞

@Zoe yes, it is so tricky indeed.😣 i just emailed a private clinic to confirm who can attend an early scan before i book with them. And I will definitely do the same with my nhs scan appointment.🤞🏼
