I was given the option to have a family nurse and I will say it helped me so much more than a health visitor. I thought I knew a lot about babies but it opened my eyes to so much more. Like weaning, as an example, veg before fruit so the babies don’t develop a sweet tooth. I couldn’t have asked for two of the best ones. I also had them out every week for the first year of my daughters life and then it was every two weeks then to once a month. I highly recommend!x

@Myrryn so they are quite like a health visitor?? Only wondering cause everything is so new and I’ve never heard of half of the services being offered 😅 x

@Alice they're basically a health visitor but a lot better they interact with you in a way that's more like educational and support you a lot more. They do development checks and whatever but also provide a lot more support and help with a wider range of things. Honestly mines lovely and I see her once a month now but I much preferred having one it was a lot less pressure on me than a health visitor

My sister has one and she seems to be very helpful. She provided her with baby proofing stuff and does checks on baby to make sure he’s hitting his milestones. She meets with them often just to check in and see how baby is doing and provide different resources like wic etc , they are really helpful it seems. I wanted to get a nurse but apparently I make too much 😔

I have a family nurse currently and she is amazing! we used to see her every 2 weeks just for a catch up more than anything.but I believe you see her every 3 weeks then from 35ks it’s every 2 from birth is weekly for 4 weeks then it goes to every 2 weeks then every 4.But my family under helped me lots, she helped me with birth plans filling out my maternity grant as I was working but on a low income.always on the end of the line if I need her and reassuring but I know some people have horrible nurses but personally I’d say go for it x

i’m in the program, it’s amazing. i feel like it depends on what nurse you get maybe but mine is literally the best and has helped me so much. even when we don’t have a meeting scheduled i can text her with any concerns/questions and she helps me. i would definitely recommend trying the program out!! mine has given me some great legal advice as well in terms of paternity/custody stuff because she has been working as a social worker for so long and seen a lot of cases.
