Not there yet but we do plan to use k12 because my husband works there

Any particular reason other than asd you want to do online? In my teaching experience, inclusion can be a great thing. Students on both sides gain meaningful experiences and teach each other in so many ways. Obviously there are a lot of factors that can make or break the experience and every child is different/has different needs. You should also check into Montessori schools if you can.

How old is your daughter? You can get help for her and get an IEP (I think that’s the word) for her and it’ll follow her throughout school year. My nephew is on the spectrum and I know it was hard for my sister to get him into school but he has all the help he needs (he’s in middle school now). She also has done it with her second child (not on the spectrum). I’m also on the track to get my son evaluated for ADHD and autism as he’s having trouble in school.

@s a r a 🥀 definitely a good thing to consider! If the school is giving push back on an iep, you can always have a private evaluation done although they can be pricey. Or if they determine that your child doesn’t qualify for an iep, you can bring the diagnosis in and request a 504 plan. That would give your child accommodations somewhat similar to an iep.

@Samantha the school system has changed alot. and the kids i feel are not learning like they used to among other things

@Samantha we are going for her iep today

It definitely has changed a lot! From the teacher perspective, as long as parents are on top of their child’s needs and stay super involved, children of all abilities can still be successful. Unfortunately there are a lot of not great teachers/administrators that tend to ruin the experience especially if parents don’t know their rights.

@Samantha that's my fear ..
