High thyroid:( need some loving

Was so excited to find out we were pregnant. Went and got my second set of bloods. My HCG was sitting at 1400 (I’m almost 5 weeks) she said my thyroid was high at 3.9 and should be sitting around 2.5 so she’s made me do another set of tests and starting me on medication in the next couple days. All I keep reading is I’m at a high risk of miscarriage and I’m so upset reading that. Any mums have some advice for me xo

Ive gone through the whole thyroid being high, took out half and am now low. I’m guessing doctor tested TSH. Ask for a full thyroid blood panel. You need to know your T3, T4 and check if you have antibodies for hashimotos. All of this is a single blood test. Dr Marisa Snyder has some old episodes on her podcast (essentially you) about what tests specifically to ask for. Might also have the notes on her website, which would be faster than listening. She’s an amazing resource, but granola mom to the extreme, so learn from her and pick what works for you. Nutritionalisr Elizabeth wentz also has some good content on instagram and she has several books. I’m generically predisposed to thyroid disease and had 3 healthy boys and no miscarriages.

@Brandi thank you so much hun. I have a 20 month old son and I never had high thyroid ever with him. It’s always been normal. Like my HCG shot up as well as the thyroid. She did more tests today to determine what medication I will need.

Did you have any problems?

Hi, I have lived with thyroid problems my whole life. When I was pregnant with my son, I managed to keep the pregnancy as my thyroid level was average, so I didn't need to have medication, but I still had to go for a blood test every couple of months as my thyroid doesn't tend to stay at the right level it either goes too high or too low.
