Advice - been put onto Nutramigen

Hey everyone, Our daughter is 17 weeks old and we’ve been back and forth to the docs trying to figure out if she has Cmpa. We’ve had periods of no symptoms, when she went back into normal milk, then got a very bad rash and sickness started again so the doc said let’s try prescription milk again to see if it goes. Anyways, a week in, and she is literally barely drinking anything. She was drinking 6-7oz of HIPP Organic every 3 hours, and is now drinking her first bottle, then fussing over the rest. Is this normal? 😞

She could be drinking less due to a few reasons: - She doesn’t like the taste - She doesn’t like that it’s not warm - She used to comfort drink and now she’s no longer in pain doesn’t need to drink extra She should hopefully increase how much she’s drinking but if you’re really concerned speak to your GP

She may have some silent reflux and need some gaviscon. Also I know some people put vanilla type drops in if HV agrees to help get used to it. I'd say wait until she's reallllly hungry and also have it room temp not cold (we fill all the bottles up with water at the start of the day and leave about 30 ml (for a 240 bottle) which we then add fresh boiling water at the feed time so the bottle/water isn't too cold but isn't warm either). It took our little boy about a week to properly start taking more of this but when he did he drank more than before. Hope this helps x

You can try HIPP HA. The proteins are not as broken down as nutramigen so if your baby has a more severe allergy it won’t work. My son has mild CMPA so HIPP HA worked wonders for him. Also, nutramigen tastes gross so that might be a reason why she won’t drink it. I’ve seen moms say they add a drop of alcohol free vanilla extract to hypoallergenic formulas to make it taste better
