Lip tie

Any advice on lip tie please? My baby is 10 months old, and although I did bring it up since he was tiny, no one took me seriously. Now that his front teeth came out he looks like he will have a big gap.. went to see a private paediatrician and she said it’s a bit late to cut it now and it would need to be done using general anaesthesia 😔😔 just worried and angry that no one listened.. and used the old “ it’s your first baby isn’t it?” He also had severe reflux so I am thinking they might be related..?

Not routinely cut here in the UK. As they grow, the frenulum often thins and moves up as their gums grow anyway so the gap in the teeth narrows, and sometimes it gets split entirely in an accident etc. On its own, it isn’t detrimental in any way. Very often lip ties and tongue ties go hand in hand though and it’s more likely a tongue tie that is responsible for complications with feeding, sleep, reflux, speech, weaning etc.

My eldest had top lip tie and a gap in his teeth but as he grew his teeth came together and he had a perfect bite and the tie has now gone ☺️ he’s almost 9 years old now xx

We had a tongue a lip laser using. CO2 laser done with numbing cream on Wednesday
