@Katie I thought this too! & now I’m super confused I also thought we got 30 hours free from 9 months old so I’m reading something wrong!
@Emma It’s 15 hours from 9 months old and then when they are 2 years old they get 30 hours x
Isn’t there new funding where 9 months old get 30 hours?

@Lauren From Sept 2025, yes. But it’ll still work the same way as above, you’ll get 30h for your 9 month old the term after they have turned 9 months And yes, it’s per child.
If they turn 9 months in August would they get the funding from September? Xx

Because funding is paid to childcare settings/childminders etc termly by their relevant local authorities, that’s just how the system works. So it doesn’t matter when your child actually turns 9mo/2y/3y (this is just funding for working parents from 9mo, there’s still 2y and 3y funding for low income/non working families which operates in the same way) it has to go by the term system.
