Leaking nappies

just looking for some advice/tips. Baby boy was born 6lb 4oz so is quite small and may be a contributing factor. but we’re having a lot of accidents where his urine is coming through his nappy to his clothes, just wondering if we’re doing something wrong.

Our little girl was dinky and has just hit the 6lb mark - we've had to try 4 different brands to find the best shape for her. If it's leaks around the bottom of the legs then fred and flo was best for her, if it's at the back or front then aldi mamia or sainsburys little ones are better as have an elasticated waist. We're sticking with aldi for now

Is it going up his back? One night, I changed his nappy, clothes, and bedding 3 times! I still struggle sometimes, but make sure his willy is pointing down and place the nappy straps on top x

Make sure it’s pointing down when you close his nappy. What size nappies are you using? And how much does he weigh now?

Pampers size 0 may work. My little one wa 7lb 9 but was only in them a week

My boy was 6lb 7 and we had the same issue, pampers didn't work as the size 0 was too small and the size 1 too big. We found the aldi mamia size 1's the best fit for him.

My little one was 6lbs 8oz when he was born and we used Pampers size zero for the first 2-3 weeks. These were the smallest I could find. He’s now 8lbs 6oz and he’s in size 1 Pampers and we’ve had no accidents in either so I’d defo recommend them. X

Tried endless brands and honestly “Bambo” brand nappies have been a game changer for us.😊

My baby boy was 5 lbs 13 and we’ve found the Tesco ones best for him in a size 0, we can never find them in store though so have to do an online shop. We tried Pampers size 0 too but he was constantly leaking through them so think the Tesco ones are a bit smaller x

We used pampers and they leak terribly for little one but love boots own brand as they work. I think it's about finding the right shape/fit by trial and error. Your wee one is gorgeous 😍 x

my little boy was born 6lb 4 too, we had only bought size 1 nappy’s and had this problem, since we’ve swapped to pampers size 0 we’ve had very minimal accidents x

thankyou everyone!! its coming out the bottom of his legs, i think cause they’re so tiny. tried sainsburys and aldi size 1 so going to have a look for pampers size 0, we had 3 changes last night 🥲😂xx

The mama bear nappies from Amazon are the best ones I’ve used. My little one was born 6lb 2 and we’ve never had an issue ! Xx

@Alyssia what size?xx

@Lauren might be a daft question but are you fluffing out the inside elastic? Once they are on, there is a little bit of elastic inside, I've found it I don't fluff it out then you definitely get it running out (not always a fail safe but works 85% for us) x

I’ve tried a few on my now 5 week old. I loved Pampers for him, no accidents however so expensive he got them for his first 3 weeks of life as a treat 😂 Sainsbury’s are awful don’t waste your money, Asda aren’t too bad but my favs so far are the Fred and flo Tesco. Size 1 has a lot of structure to them and no accidents so far in them

Also I know it might sound stupid, but my nephew he’s got the smallest bum and skinny little legs, my sister had to double up to prevent the leaking. Worked for them! Two nappies might look bulky but fine if just bedtime :)

@Kirsty we were thinking this for at least bed time as hes waking himself up a lot being uncomfy because hes wet but wasnt sure if its okay to do xx

not much luck with the size 0 pampers, hes leaked through 3 this afternoon 😢xx

@Lauren we got size 1s xx

another night of leaks😭 we’ve now tried pampers size 0, made sure the leg parts are always pulled out, tried doubling up on nappies and still finding his clothes wet. think im going to order some different brands (mama bear and tesco) any other suggestions would be appreciated - from one very tired mam 🫠😂

Eco by naty have been the best for me so far. Pampers have been the worst, Aldi ones have leaked a lot too. The Tesco ones seem to be a bit better but the eco by naty ones have only leaked a couple of times out of a big pack so I’ve ordered some more of them.

@Jodie have you just ordered these online?xx

@Lauren silly question but is it the same area wet each time? We had a few times a wet patch on our little one’s back and couldn’t figure out wtf was going on. It turned out it was the same area and it was actually sweat 🙈 it’s stopped now but apparently newborns sweat as they can’t regulate their body temp. Might not be but just thought I’d mention it x

@Steff 💕now that you’ve mentioned it, it is always on his back!! do you think maybe hes too hot at night time? we only put him in a vest, baby grow and a cellular blanket folded once so didnt think it could be sweat, his nappies sometimes do seem dry also but i thought that was because all the wee was coming out of them😂xx

@Lauren so I was putting our little one in his vest, sleep suit and his swaddle bag and was noticing it worse then. I now only put him in his vest and swaddle bag and absolutely nothing now! X
