Constipation

I started combination feeding a couple weeks now and my 2 month old keeps getting constipated. She started going massively in like every 48 hrs than opposed to daily when she just breastfed. This time she is going on 72 hrs since she has gone. We are going to change the formula to see if it makes a difference. Any advice?

Hi my baby had this and we switched to aptamil from SMA it really helped. I was told when they are little it’s normal for them not to go as often when on formula, but if it continues I would talk to your GP they might prescribe lactulose which they did for us and it really helped.

@Anita thank you we are on Mamia and going to start her on Aptamil but just waiting for her to go before we do.

It's not unusual for a baby to go this long without a poop. Both my little girls have had this. Lots of people recommend giving the odd bottle of pre made formula as its meant to loosen up the stools a bit

Thank you 😊

I’m thinking of doing the same, very similar- we are 7 weeks tomorrow, started 1 bottle a day from 4 weeks and she’s really upset processing wind and poop. Told it’s normal to not poop but don’t think it’s that normal to be so distressed you can’t sleep until you’ve eventualy pooped! What formula are you thinking of switching to?
