Feeding

At what age do you no longer have to worry about holding upright for 30 mins after a feed? My little girl is 7 and a half months and I still do it but I don’t think I need to when she doesn’t have the reflux issue so much anymore?

I stopped feeding my son upright around 5 months I believe. I knew he was able to bring wind up/out much easier himself by then xx

My grandson hated being upright after a feed and used to be sick all the time. We used to hold him upright enough that he didn’t choke if he was sick but not enough for him to start screaming x

I didn’t even know you had to do this? First time mum here.. don’t you feed your baby laying down and then just wind them until they’ve burped?

@Kas no lovely, you should feed your baby laying in your arms, with their head upright. If they’re lay flat it’ll worsen symptoms of reflux and can make them uncomfortable. Once fed you can sit baby up fully upright and wind them 😊

I’d say you can stop that now zzz

Wth lol you are patient and sweet … props to you. You 10000% don’t need to hold them upright after a feed for 7 months 😂 I stopped after each of my children could burp on their own or stopped spitting up.

@Kas lol 😂 you can breastfeed laying down, don’t feed formula laying down…(can cause ear infections) However when they are newborns they can get reflux or have a burp stuck so they tend to just spit it up if you don’t sit them upright for a bit after a feeding.

@Kas I learned with my second baby.. my first didn’t really spit up much or have too many issues. Second baby… however used to spit up a lot if I didn’t sit him up after feeding when he was a newborn. He would fall asleep eating and I would have to hold him sitting up or he would just spit up everything and eat/repeat

My baby is 7 months with reflux. He is on medication for it and it seems to be mostly gone, but our pediatrician still wants him upright for 30 mins until at least his next appointment (when he will be 10 months).

I mean we sat her up for a while but not for 30 mins x

@Kas my baby suffered with reflux really bad so she couldn’t be fed completely laying down and had to bd held for half hour because otherwise she would brink the whole bottle back up bless her
