Ultrasound after miscarriage

Hey everyone! Unfortunately I am going through a miscarriage, I'm just wondering after how long was your follow up ultrasound to see if your uterus was empty? My is booked for 25 days after the miscarriage started

Sorry for your loss. It's unusual to have a follow-up scan - in my experience anyway they just say see if you test negative on a home pregnancy test three weeks later and if so, you're good. So, given the three week advice, 25 days makes sense. It's good they are scanning as it'll give you more confidence that everything is OK

Thank you, I'm sorry for your loss as well

i’m so sorry for your loss. with my first loss i had an ultrasound a week after the bleeding had initially started. my second was the day my bleeding started. both time i had some spotting and called for an EPU appointment. 25 is quite a long time to wait! is there anyway you can push to have it sooner?

Im sorry for your losses as well. I had an ultrasound the day my bleeding started, but they want to do another 25 days later to make sure my uterus emptied all the pregnancy tissue as I was measuring on 6 weeks 5 days with no fetal heart instead of 9 weeks 3 days (as well as no growth in 10 days apart ultrasounds) so I had a missed miscarriage. I will call the early pregnancy clinic tomorrow to see if they can get me in sooner

Hi lovely, sorry you’re going through this. Are you taking the ‘natural’ approach? I’m very similar to you. I was initially scanned at a private clinic at 10 weeks but baby measuring 6.5/7w no FH- MMC, I then had to fly to Spain for my sisters wedding then started bleeding whilst out there then get scanned at my hospital when I flew home for it to be ‘official’ on my actual NHS notes. 25 seems long to me however I tried natural for 2 weeks then had a scan to see if my body had completed the miscarriage, this showed significant retained products (I had only passed blood and tiny clots at this point) so I was put on the medicated pathway. I passed more clots and tissue the morning before taking the tablets (not to alarm but the clot was size of a lemon) and they scanned me a week after to check again. It still showed a small area to go so tried tablets to see if that would work. (Both times the tablets to me failed I didn’t have any pain or cramps triggered by them)

They rang me 48 hours after the tablets to see if I’d made any progress and even though nothing had really changed they were confident to leave me 2 weeks to see if I test negative (I test a week today) the bleeding has completely stopped so I’m hoping I’m at the end of this and any small retained areas will come out during my next period 😖 xx

Im sorry youre going through this as well. I started bleeding heavy clots but the hospital recommended the medicine so I took it to help speed things along, I didn't have any significant changes after the medicine but right before taking the medicine I passed the sac.. the bleeding stopped 10 days later so I'm hoping everything came out! I hope you're at the end of this too!

It’s horrible to go through and pass it but it’s a positive sign that your body may be done now! I stopped bleeding after passing what I think was the sac / and or placenta and tested today and finally negative! I’ve not had my period yet but been told it may be heavier than normal. Hope you’re at the end of it too xx
