Food recommendations

I’m prepared for hate. My 13 month old won’t eat very much. He really only eats soup and bread. He doesn’t like meat at all he’s had one chicken nugget that he actually finished but won’t even try them now. I’m looking for more foods to feed him cause I hate that he eats the same meals. He likes plain oatmeal and chicken and stars soup. He only eats plain white bread (this is a safe food for him. If all else fails he will fill up on bread) he likes cooked carrots. I think he likes a really bland diet. Anything you can think of that you think he will like I will try giving him. Thank you in advance

I also want everyone to know we try to give him EVERYTHING we eat

When did he start eating actual food? Try corn, green beans since he likes cooked carrots. I would bring this up to his doctor at his next appointment if it’s a huge concern for you. Keep offering everything you eat as well. My oldest isn’t big on meat or eggs either so definitely try to find ways to get that protein in.

@Rachel he started around 8 months eating things other than purées. He does like eggs sometimes. He’s had green beans but isnt super big on them. Corn is a no. He spits it out. Hes doctor didn’t seem too concerned when I asked at his 1 year cause he’s still gaining weight

What about cheese? Mac and cheese, grilled cheese. Fruits? I would bring it up to the doctor again. I’m thinking vitamin and protein wise not just if he’s gaining weight. My kids doctor will sent referrals when IM concerned even if she’s not just to make sure I’m at ease as their mother

My little one doesn’t eat meat at all. I get his protein in by using chickpea pasta, avocados, yogurt, cottage cheese, and peanut butter. Also 12 grain bread has a lot of protein in it too for them.

Just keep offering different foods over and over again

@Rachel he eats Mac and cheese. He’s doesn’t like just plain cheese and I’ve tried to make him cheesy rolls (like at Taco Bell) but he didn’t want them. He’s had peanut butter crackers so maybe I’ll try a pb sandwich!

@Marci I’ve never heard of chickpea pasta! Looking now! He hates avocado. He used to like them but now he doesn’t. We tried Greek yogurt and he hated it. I will try to give cottage cheese a try.

My son loves it. We get the brand simply nature from Aldi‘s down here where I’m from but you can probably get it at any major grocery store. And I use butternut squash about 10 ounces and melt it down after it’s been steamed. I cut up spinachput about a quarter cup of cheddar cheese and a little bit of cream cheese and make a sauce with it and he absolutely loves it.

Girl there is light at the end of the tunnel don’t worry My son was the same way and seriously no joke he woke up one day and it was a switch he ate everything I gave him and wasn’t so much on a liquid intake anymore. We just gave him every single food he was throw tantrums and when he would get like that I’d let him sit by himself and play with his food What also really got him into eating was letting him hold watermelon in his hand while he walked around the house idk if that gave him confidence for independence but that’s when I got him a table and chair and he sits at his table and eats everything I put on his plate. I give him organic snacks which helped trigger him to eat They’re the brand organic little bellies pick me sticks they also have other really cool snacks Once a happy farm snacks are amazingggg Yumi puffs Yumi granola bars Cerebelly granola bars Amara yogurt melts Sprout pb&yayz

@Siera thank you. I will be looking into them. He eats a lot of different snacks just not real food

Small update! He is currently eating a peanut butter sandwich. He also had some smiley face potatoes last night with 2 bites of chicken nugget. Not much but I’m taking anything at this point

Can you blend more veggies or proteins into the soups? Boil or steam them then blend it and mix with what he likes? Continue offering new things to explore, while letting him fill up on what you know he’ll eat? My baby was only eating plain yogurt for a while, so I’d add fruit or beans or veggies to it.
