I hope to be like my mom ♥️
I go to my moms maybe once a month. It’s a 6 hour drive. Can I just say that when my daughter gets to my age that I hope she knows she can utilize me like I do my mom because it’s so nice. I drive up with two dogs and two cats if it’s more than the weekend (if not I leave my cats at home). Obviously I have my baby too (she’s 4mo old). My husband will usually be overnight at work or on deployment when I go to my mom, but she reacts the same way when he comes.
When I get here she immediately grabs the baby, which is nice because I LOVE seeing how much she loves my baby. The second I get there I feel like I am almost responsibilities free. Kinda lol. It’s such a nice thing to be relieved from. She wakes up early, takes care of my dogs (and hers). Takes care of my cats.
If I’m only driving up for a day, I let my baby sleep with her. Some might be opposed to this, but I trust my mom as my mom has raised me. She has a bassinet in her room. She will keep the baby overnight and bring her to me when she goes down to take care of the dogs (so I can breastfeed). After she’s done with the animals she comes back and asks if I need her to take the baby back. And although I don’t neeeeeed her to, I know she doesn’t see her often so that’s fine by me. Plus I get to sleep (which I will need for the drive back home, since we usually leave at night).
My mom changes all diapers when I’m at her house, makes all bottles, washes all bottles, and even makes me food.
I just wanted to say how thankful I am for my mother because I guess she knows how much mommas just sometimes need a break. I am hoping that my daughter (if she chooses to have children or not), comes home to me and trusts me to still be her mother and take care of her.
I’m so lucky. That’s all ♥️
