Should I go to Labor and Delivery ER?

Feeling swollen so I checked my blood pressure and got a reading of 144/90 Waited 30 min sitting still and checked it again and got 140/89 My nurse had told me that 140/90 was to go get checked at the ER but should I because of the second reading idk? Asking here because the labor and delivery er don’t answer the phone 😭

I would go with numbers like that

The second number is still so borderline I would at least call

I would go just to be on the safe side

It’s always good to be assured, busy the hospital

Because of where I live, I have to call before just heading to the hospital. If I don’t have a headache/vision changes along with a reading closer to 150/110 they don’t want me to come in 😒 If you do have access, I would say go get it checked as we have been told anything 140/90 could be concerning. Also, my digital cuff gives a higher reading than what the nurse gets at the office (I brought it in to check) so I have to keep that in mind as well.

My blood pressure was that high and they made me have an emergency c section I think you should go in

If the nurse said to, then I would go in. Mine told me not to go in unless it was 160/110 or I was having other pre-eclampsia symptoms. You can check again in an hour and then go if it's still high. The 140/90 is just a guideline. If it's 140 or higher on the top or 90 or higher on the bottom, then that fits that guideline.

@Cassandra same here and then my pre-eclampsia became severe a few days after delivery so I was was readmitted. Things can change quickly, so it's best to get checked out.

I went in with numbers like these and a headache and that’s where my doctor diagnosed me with gestational hypertension and we decided I needed to be induced early because my numbers stay in the high range. It never hurts to go. They took swelling off of the preeclampsia symptoms for diagnoses, but it still can be an indicator of it. With high blood pressure and preeclampsia it is ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry!

Thank you everyone for advice! I went in last night and in getting induced also got gestational hypertension. Currently 3cm dilated and my body and baby are responding well to the oxytocin. If God wills baby will be here today, due date was Oct 12th 🙌🏻🤍
