Internal ultrasound

I'm almost 31 weeks and I have a low placenta. I've got a scan at 32 weeks to check if the placenta has moved with my bump. I think they said they were going to do an internal ultrasound if the baby's head is in the way and they can't see it. Does the internal ultrasound hurt? This is my fifth pregnancy and I've not had an internal one before. I've asked my husband to come with me as I'm nervous but he's a useless piece of shit that puts everyone and everything before us.

I had a few (before and during pregnancy) and they were never painful for me. It was just slightly uncomfortable.

I've had so many now in our journeys to becoming pregnant and also while being pregnant and they don't hurt. They're less uncomfortable than a smear. The wand is covered with a condom and plenty of lube and they don't really need to put it in too far especially as they will only really be looking the other side of your cervix to see where the placenta is. Can be more uncomfortable when they're looking higher like for your ovaries etc like they do pre pregnancy because they have to see further. Shouldn't take them too long either. Honestly please don't stress yourself out about it x

I have placenta previa and had a transvaginal ultrasound 2 weeks ago. It was fine just a bit uncomfortable nothing you can’t put up with. It’s the best way to see what’s going on with the placenta x

I've had them pre and during pregnancy and agree, they don't hurt, they're just uncomfortable

Try not to worry. It doesn’t hurt but it’s not exactly comfortable. Explain you are nervous when you go on and they will do their best to make you feel at ease. X

No. Not at all xx

Not at all. They explain everything they're doing and are really gentle and sympathetic. You'll be fine xx

It doesn’t hurt at all but maybe it could feel uncomfortable if your body is tense. Stay relaxed and everything will be fine 🤗
