Would this annoy you?
I have lovely in-laws but whenever they visit or we visit them all my partner and them do is talk about people from their old neighbourhood where they used to live and reminisce on old times… I’ve been with him 6 years and heard ALL the stories over and over plus all the updates on these people I don’t know! Even when they come to visit our newborn it was just gossip about other people and I’m just sat there quiet, obviously can’t engage in the conversation as I don’t know who they’re on about and to be quite frank it’s boring!! Is it just me or would anyone else find this annoying?

Yeah, it is annoying. Like, why do I have to hear about someone's life story who I don't even know. I would either just pretend to listen but zone out. Or make an excuse to go into another room & do something so that you don't have to listen to it.

They sound too interested in other people and not interested enough in you and your family! How annoying
My mil was like that during the first few years of my marriage. That was the only way she could connect with her son gossip about the neighbours 😂
