Polyhydramnios

Had a growth scan yesterday and have been told I have excess fluid around baby. Has anyone had this before with no complications with the pregnancy/birth?

Hi lovely, I’m afraid I don’t have the answer to the above, but I had a growth scan yesterday (midwife said I was measuring on the smaller side). All measurements were fine but they advised my fluid was on the low side, just don’t google anything and rather take advice from the professionals as what to do. Do you have to have another scan?

I’ve had polyhydramnios with both my boys, both perfectly healthy babies. First was a preterm spontaneous labour at 35w, second I was induced at 39w. Prepare for a looot of liquid if your waters break! 😅

@Garne I was monitored all of the way through for low fluid. I googled and sent myself insane and my baby was born perfectly naturally and perfectly healthy with a normal level of fluid with no issues. Xxx

@Garne hopefully next time they check your fluid is back to normal, glad all babys measurements were fine though. It's just so hard not to overthink it and worry isn't it. Yes I have another scan in 3 weeks and will be monitored more closely now. The baby is measuring quite small so I'm anxious about that but I'm sure everything will be OK xx

@Chloe thank you! So glad you had two healthy babies. I'm sure it's more common than we realise, it's just nice to hear positive stories when you don't really know what to expect 😊 xx

Yes I had this with my first! It was only picked up by a late growth scan 37 weeks as my bump was huge. I ended up being induced at 38 weeks but that was because my baby was also a big one! She was perfectly healthy though so all good in the end xx
