baby hates the car seat/car rides

Any advice on how to keep your baby content or entertained in their car seat? My baby used to be chill or even fall asleep during car rides and in his car seat as a newborn. Since he was 3 months, he started to cry hysterically every time we go for a drive. Maybe 1 in 5 times he’ll be content but if it’s a long drive he’s crying his eyes out. It’s to the point where he gets so red and sweaty and hyperventilates. I feel like we tried everything besides switching to a different car seat, even teething snacks sometimes but I don’t feel safe giving him food while we’re driving and he has to stay strapped in. - I sit in the back with him - He has a mirror in front of his own seat to see himself and so dad can also see him while driving - We always have a few toys and fidget spinners on hand, dangling toys, teething toys, crinkle toys - We usually try to time drives after he’s well rested and fed, or right before he’s ready to fall asleep - We have the nuna pipa rx and removed the newborn insert and headrest when he outgrew it - The straps are adjusted to sit right below his shoulders, and buckled according to safety guidelines without being too tight

My np at the OB said passively that the only way to get her son to stop crying in the car was to play Baby Shark on repeat and out of desperation one time I did it too and it worked. We do it every time and just tune it out. Same for if he is really upset over anything. He’ll settle down so he can listen to the doo doo doo doo doo chorus.

Gotta find your baby’s song it looks like! 😆 We’re a no screen house too. He loves baby shark but has no idea that it’s a cartoon or what the cartoon looks like. We have the baby Einstein sea toy too and he loves it. It’s great on the plane too!

My girls song is Chiquita by ABBA 😭😭😂 it’s gonna be my most listened song this year for sure. Some days to keep her calm in the car I’d sing it for an hour on repeat. Because she can’t just have that song, noooo mom also needs to sing. Idk why it works but it does 😂 She loves the car and rides but she’s had issues here and there and that song has SAVED me 😂😂 we sing it every day while getting her ready for bed cause that’s usually when she cries the most and hates getting ready for bed and she’ll be calm as can be if I’m singing it to her
