Anterior Placenta

Hi Mamas, I know it’s early days and I know things can change but I’m pregnant with baby #2. We’ve had our 12 week scan today and been told I have an anterior placenta. I’m worried I won’t feel baby movements like I did with my first and other family members won’t either. Had anyone been through this? X

I had an anterior placenta with my first and didn’t feel movements until around 22 weeks.. I had a few episodes of ‘reduced movements’ because I found them really tricky to track depending on how she was positioned 🤦🏻‍♀️ it’s not big obvious movements like with a posterior placenta, but you can still feel baby move and towards around the 28-30 week mark, other people can feel the movements too x

I had an anterior placenta with my first and felt movement at 15 weeks- much to my amazement! I think it depends on so much more than just your placenta position at first. I later had quite a few checks with reduced movement too, but I did still feel him a lot and so did others.

I have an anterior placenta and I'm 14+1 and feeling flutters they have happened on several occasions and my third long time pregnancy so I know for sure it's our girl wiggling x

I had an anterior with my first pregnancy i felt flutters at 16/17 weeks and I felt him move and kick at 22 /23weeks

I had anterior with first baby and could feel lots from 14w

I had an anterior placenta with my first and didn’t really feel anything until 22/23 weeks. 🫶🏻 However, I used to spend a lot of time playing with bump and getting him to respond to me and when I did this, most of the time, I always felt something back/saw him move 🥲🩵 If ever I was unsure, I just went in to be checked over and the midwives were always so helpful and supportive. But I did still get to see movements and my husband got to feel him too 😘 xxx

I had an anterior with my first pregnancy, and I do think it took a bit longer to feel baby kick, but I think part of that was just not knowing what it would feel like. Looking back there were definitely lots of earlier movements I dismissed as muscle twitching. But I felt him so so much, but then I suppose I have nothing else to compare it to, maybe it was less than others might feel? I just had a look at my 12 week scan notes for this second pregnancy, and it says anterior placenta again, so maybe I'll never know! But I'm 13+3 today and felt baby for the first time.
