Growth scans

Does anyone know what triggers you to be sent for a growth scan? I've seen so many posts about people having growth scans. Our baby is measuring over the 95th percentile in the last 2 midwife appointments (over the grey lines) and the midwife said she will 'likely' send me for a growth scan at 36 weeks. I'm currently 31 +4 and confused why I am waiting another 5 ISH weeks when other people have already had them?

I think it may depend on your pregnancy case? I'm on Consultant Lead Care so got my Growth scan today (27+5) and have had referrals to Fetal Medicine and Fetal Cardio, so I've had about 5/6 scans already

Depends on a myriad of factors and also probably the trust you’re in. I was on 97th last midwife and she said they’d allow for “one more” high reading before sending us for a scan. To be honest I’m jealous of everyone else getting to see baby again so wouldn’t mind the extra scan 🙃

I’m 29 weeks and had 13 nhs scans, firstly they were reassurance and now they are growth. But prior to this pregnancy we had 4 miscarriages.

It can be a number of things, high bmi, gestational diabetes, bump measurements being high or low… if you are consultant led then you usually have them I believe. Xx

I'm 28 weeks and well above the 97th percentile. I was told if I measure just as big next time I'll be sent for a scan x

I have low PAPP-A so have growth scans every 4 weeks x

Measuring large is less associated with risks of negative outcomes than measuring small, most people posting about being sent for growth scans have been measuring small

I have had one growth scan last week at 28 weeks and two more booked for 32 and 36 weeks. Mine is because I have a fibroid that has grown during pregnancy so they are checking the growth of that rather than how big the baby is!

Last pregnancy it was because my bump was measuring a couple weeks ahead, son was born in the 97th percentile, this time growth is being monitored because I have a liver disease (no high bmi or GD in either pregnancy) x
