CMPA Diagnosis

Hi mamas, How did you get the diagnosis for CMPA for your baby? What were the signs for this allergy? How did you confirm it? I have so many questions as I’m trying to figure if this may be the issue my LO is having.

Same following as my little boy currently has a rash all over an poos after every feed!

So we haven’t got the diagnosis yet but my LG is being treated for suspected CMPA. Her symptoms are: Diarrhoea Crying while feeding and afterwards Grunting in pain/ bringing her legs up towards her stomach Rash on eyelids and neck which got worse over time Not gaining weight/ slow weight gain I initially got her seen for her eye rash by a GP and was told it was eczema and it will go. Several weeks later it’s not going and she’s getting all these other symptoms so I research CMPA and basically tell the GP I think she has it which they agree with. She was prescribed Nutramigen which helped for around 2 weeks before her symptoms came back. Then was given SMA Althera which did not help at all and made her worse. Finally spoke to the GP yesterday and said I want her to be prescribed an amino acid formula so they have done that and made a referral to a paediatric dietician. If your baby has any of the below symptoms then speak to your GP but I will say GPs try to dismiss you a lot so (1)

Do your research so you can advocate for your little one. I had to basically tell the GP which milk to prescribe as he was going to prescribe a whey-based one even though she was already on that (SMA Althera). I told him which ones were amino acid formulas so he could prescribe it. Happy to chat with you if you need any advice xx CMPA symptoms: Skin reactions such as hives, eczema, redness, or itching. Gastrointestinal issues include vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, or discomfort. Respiratory symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, coughing, wheezing, or shortness of breath. General discomfort can display as fussiness, irritability, and refusal to feed.

My baby was diagnosed at around 5 weeks of age. She had been crying uncontrollably for hours, so I took her to A&E and she was seen by the paediatric team. Due to her being constipated and having a rash/eczema on her face and chest, the consultant paediatrician diagnosed CMPA. We're still trying to sort it, as she now reacts to hydrolysed milk so we're now on amino acid formula!

colour grey as a not well Baby sign Crying Unsettled on breast Congested 3 years later he is full time allergic to milk He had adenoids removal surgery He love ice cream has conspitaton and delay on bowel movements for weeks

My baby’s symptoms were eczema, mucus in stools, runny nose, wheezing, tummy ache, unsettled during feeds (arching his back and refusing feeds), wet wind, red bum and struggling to poo. GP prescribed us Aptamil Pepti and after 6-8 weeks he improved on everything but eczema. We had a dietitian appointment to confirm CMPA and she told us to introduce normal formula again to see his reaction and on the second day he had diarrhoea and mucus and undigested milk in stools. She confirmed he had CMPA and prescribed us Alfamino to see if it helps with the eczema because it was the only symptom that never disappeared on Aptamil Pepti. We are now on Alfamino and we will do the milk ladder in December (6 months after cutting out cows milk and diary) xx
