Setback

Struggling with my 9 week old. We had a rough ride at the beginning with a lot of sleepless nights and I really suffered with major baby blues but since he turned around 7 weeks I noticed he was doing better with his wind and reflux which was helping him sleep a lot better and in turn me. I felt confident in taking him out because we moved him on to 5oz every 4 hours rather than 3/4oz every 3 hours which meant I could have longer stretches when I’m out not worrying that he has to be fed etc and also in the night. Since yesterday however he was up all night screaming crying every hour. Even in the evenings lately he does not settle. I feel a major set back and can’t help but feel scared that this episode will continue . I’m meant to take him out with me tonight for a dinner with some friends but I’m petrified he will set off outside and I won’t be able to manage. I hate feeling like this when I felt like we were actually moving in the right direction now it feels like all those days were just a fluke which is making me so on edge. Anyone else feeling this way?

My daughter is going through something similar. I think it could be development related. They have a growth spurt around this time which causes them to cry a lot. Hopefully it’ll get better soon. Hang in there mama, you are doing the best you can! X

@Camy honestly just waiting for the 12 week man where the GP says apparently that digestive issues should resolve overnight… idk how true that is but I’ve heard enough stories that by 3m their LO didn’t have much issue related to wind etc

My daughter has been very similar! It seemed to get better then worse again. She is usually pretty chill when we are out though so I wouldn’t stress too much plus I’m sure your friends will understand and help out ❤️

Totally normal! This will happen on and off for a long time. It is developmental mostly and although tough, it will pass. Also, you can take your baby out and manage. I promise. If they cry, think of all the things you would do at home to settle them. Have them ready to try. Pack enough feeds just in case and dummy etc if you use one. If you're out with friends, ask one of them to take the baby for a minute. Often others can calm them because they are a bit removed and less stressed than we are. It is very normal to feel anxious but you are capable! You can do it!

Little update- he was completely fine! Slept the whole time we were out and managed to sneak in 5hours in the night not complaining after the nights we’ve been having lately. Thank you all for the reassurance x

Amazing news!! 🥳 hope you enjoyed yourself ❤️
