@Megan thank you so much for your reply! I really appreciate it! I hope your brother is all okay! Bless him! Sounds horrible 😢 See my daughter is only 2, nearly 3 in a couple of weeks. But we have tried several times with the potty training but we are just having so many accidents, and even wearing a nappy, it becomes so full so quickly and she’ll leak! She’ll ask to drink quite a lot! But her sister also drinks a lot so I’m not too sure whether it’s just her! I’m hoping on Wednesday we will have some more answers! Bless her xxx
not my child but my brother, he was older when diagnosed but also seemed to be thirsty all the time, and usually he was fine getting up in the night to use the toilet, but around that time he would constantly have accidents in bed. our mum took him to the doctor where they did a blood sugar level test which was so high it didn’t provide a number it just said ‘high’. got taken to hospital where they were able to do more tests but i can’t remember them all (i remember a more accurate blood sugar test which said he was in the 70s, when he should have been between 4 and 7!). he was also sick a couple times at the hospital due to the high blood sugar level. got his diagnosis of type 1, and we were taught how to calculate the carbs in what he was eating and also how to give him insulin injections. a nutritionist came round to his room and gave us a book which included lots of info about foods and their carb levels. it was quite daunting at first but it became so normal very quickly!
