It's hard to know how much to put into the measurements to be honest, my baby's head is measuring 91st and stomach 97th, at the hospital his femur is coming up around 30th but at a private scan when he was in a better position it measured 89th 🤷🏻♀️ I measured small with my daughter and she came out 7lb13, I'm measuring huge with this baby so it's all a bit confusing
After my last growth scan, I felt the same even though I was given lots of reassurance from professionals. After, I took photos of each page of my results and uploaded it to ChatGPT where I asked "could you explain these results?" And it made so much more sense and made me feel so much better!! I do the same for blood test results too - it told me I was anemic before my doctor did!
@Amber I did think about having a private scan for reassurance but it just feels a bit overkill and it's all the additional scans that's causing the anxiety in the first place. It's a no win situation. I have another one at 34 weeks so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what comes of that
@Heidi what's ChatGPT?
Apparently the femur is the measurement they get wrong mostly because it’s so hard to do. The consultant told me this yesterday so thought I’d share
@Mandy oh really, that's interesting. His legs do appear to have shrunk since our last scan. I was hoping it was due to human error and having had a different sonographer
They are estimates. Don't worry too much about it. Ypu will get the most accurate info when they are born.
@Terri-ann yes according to the consultant they often get that measurement incorrect
Scan measurements are only estimates and it all depends on how baby is lying and also how much they are wriggling around at scan. Also becomes harder to get measurements the further you are due to space so they are all folded up. From experience of my first and being induced cause of growth, I really do take my growth scans with a pinch of salt. As long as cord, heartbeat and placenta all look good I'm happy If they were concerned they would tell you 😁
