Honest Advice & Opinion

My child’s father is a Fireman he lives with me. I pay the full $1200/mo in rent + utilities and other bills. He pays me $500-$700/mo in child support. It varies. Do yall think that this monthly amount should cover his half of rent AND child support? I buy everything for our son and take care of his needs. He’s with me 24/7 because his work schedule varies. He leaves out of state often too. He just bought a brand new 2025 SUV that only he will be driving. I just need an honest opinion. PLEASE. Tbh, to me. It doesn’t sit right. He thinks he’s paying a fair amount and it should cover his half of rent. And “if I need more money, I can ask.” ???

Maybe make a list with all the expenses, including rent, utilities, groceries, and everything for your child They often don’t realize how much everything costs until they see it. Life is expensive, and if his payment covers only half the rent, I don’t see where he pays child support tbh… if he lives with you, everything is his responsibility as well Maybe that will wake him up

So that $500-$700 shouldn’t cover his rent AND child support right.? Don’t you think it should be more? And with the amount of time he’s away, I just feel like it doesn’t equate. He spends maybe 10%-15% parenting time. I think in his mind he’s like, “well there’s $500 for rent and the other $200 for diapers and necessities.” But then paying almost $1,000/mo on a new car and car insurance is just crazy to me. Idk I think I just kinda need validation for my thoughts here. Or is it just me?
