Shower doors & bathrtime

I moved in with my boyfriend earlier in the year & the new home we live in have shower doors which I never had previously & now that I am pregnant I am worried when it comes time for bath time that the shower doors will get it the way of bathing or safety. We are renovating the basement & have installed a whirlpool tub which will not have shower doors, however I would need to go up & down the basement steps with baby if I were to go that route. So I’m feeling conflicted about safety in the aspect that the shower doors would get in the way godforbid baby falls over ect during bath time & sliding the door over to get to the other side would be a pain in the ass. Does anyone have does have shower doors & bathe their LO let give me some feedback on this? Thank you!

I put a baby tub on the floor of our shower and bathe him in that with the doors open until he was big enough to use our giant downstairs tub Sometimes I would just get in the shower too. It was a little easier that way, but I have a large shower, so there was plenty of room There's no reason you should have to close the shower doors with the baby inside the shower alone

Bathed my girl in the kitchen sink for her first 2 years 👍

Yeah infant tub, then maybe an inflatable baby tub (Amazon) once baby can sit up on his/her own or even this once baby is a little bigger

@Chelsea this is the one I use for my little guy and it works great and he loves it. Would definitely recommend this one!

Well of course using an infant tub inside the bathtub, I should have added to the post BUT I STILL feel like the shower door would get in the way of free range to move my arms and grab the baby adequately. Does this make sense? Did anyone this with the shower doors?

@Rachel the baby would never be closed in with the shower doors? The entire point of this post is saying that the shower doors with one door open and the baby inside an infant tub in the bathtub would get in the way of me being able to move freely. I’m not sure if my wording was poor on this post but I’m not sure who would ever think it’s ok for the baby to be in the tub with the doors closed ??

If you're really concerned about it, I would consider removing the shower doors for now? I personally dislike shower doors due to years of professional house cleaning. They're a pain to keep clean, and I never like seeing the inside of my shower or bathtub all the time. Much prefer a plain plastic shower liner and a pretty fabric curtain on the outside.

@Amanda oh I didn't think you were saying it was okay, I'm sorry if you took it that way! My shower doesn't have a tub as well, so it's a little bit different, but it shouldn't be an issue if you just have the baby on the open side. And it's always an option to get in the tub with your baby if you feel uncomfortable with the way the doors on your shower affect your range of motion while your baby is little.

Yes people have situations like yours and it works. You just make the best of what you have.
