Floor cleaning tips!

Any tips/hacks to deep cleaning laminate floors besides getting on hands and knees to scrub with a brush? My laminate has a lot of ridges/texture to it where dirt gets stuck in and I feel like mopping is only cleaning the surface. I have gotten on my hands and knees to scrub one section of the floor once and so much dirt came up. But I was tired and sore from just like one section of my house. I can’t imagine doing my whole house this way. I’ve thought about steam mopping but I’ve read that you can’t use steam mops on laminate flooring. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏻🩵

Broom. Have a cheap secondary broom for scrubbing

Powdered tide clothes detergent, about a 1 tablespoon in a bucket of water, make sure to ring mop out well. Should keep everything nice and smooth and footprint free!

I use laundry soap.. scrubbing is obviously going to do the best job but you can also get scrubbing mops that look like brooms that will do the same job as scrubbing on your hands and knees..

My big saver is a Bissel power fresh deluxe floor mop made a huge difference of my floors an works better than other I have owned!! For a nice smell to I add lemon e.o on the mop pad an mop smells like heaven

@Katie I see it’s a steam mop. It is safe to use on laminate? Do you have laminate flooring?

@Kay yes it is safe on any flooring I have wood Tile laminated flooring u can purchase a specific formula but I just use water

A power scrubber with a long handle. Check Amazon!

I have those same floors. My partner boils water and pours over the floor then mops. Sometimes he will use the broom to scrap hard stuff. But typically that extra hot water gets them bare feet clean… I’ve been wanting to buy a power scrubber for when I have to clean the floors but tbh I just wait for him to do it cus he seems to scrub more effortlessly lol.

@Ashley I thought you weren’t supposed to use copious amounts of water on laminate? Because it could mess it up? I could be wrong. I’m not sure honestly lol.

@Kay as long as you dont give it time to soak in it should be fine. Ive been taught to wet mop like that then dry mop. Would do it in sections to make sure it wouldnt soak

For laminate flooring, I would use either a mild detergent, or a little vinegar in water, with a microfibre spray mop. You can do one then the other to get a really thorough clean. I wouldn't use large amounts of water, or any harsh scrubbers.

My nan has this floor and she uses a steam Mop and then a dry Mop

Lol None of these options , you don't want to use too much water on floors like these. otherwise, they'll swell and start peeling. Vinegar will dull the color of the floors . Steaming will cause warping over time. Just get yourself a little mop and bucket and use hot water and pinesol or dawn dish soap. Mop every room one at a time until you see your water almost clean. You want to mop each room with new water and soap. I use the spin mop (microfiber head) and bucket for my house. I have the same floor, and my house smells and feels like clean when walking barefoot after cleaning.

@Kay I never stated a large amount of water was used. I said it was HOT. Also he mops in sections and drys the floor after each room. My floors are perfect. But to each their own 🤷🏽‍♀️.

I use joymoop on Amazon. Some vinegar and a drop of dish detergent. Works well here. And we're always barefoot.
