I was the same. I had a massive fear of my toddler getting sick and people getting telling me to get over it like it was easy. It took us a year to find a nursery I liked the only thing that puts me off with the nursery he’s in now is the ages in the room. My toddler is in with the 6-9 month olds and they all wear their outdoor shoes on the floors & rugs so while babies are learning to crawl around, my toddler is wearing his out door shoes. I always pack him slipper boots but he doesn’t wear them. He comes home with filthy socks from the floors. If there wasn’t babies in that room, I wouldn’t mind as much.
I chose a childminder instead of a nursery as all the nurseries I looked at had kids with snotty noses so I can only imagine the germs on the toys etc I can’t fault the childminder we chose, she has so much time for my kids, their development has come on leaps and bounds and they are always up to crafts or going on days out I am so glad I chose a childminder over a nursery. I just think the kids get a much better relationship and trust with their caregiver as it’s always the same person

I was working in agency in a lot of nurseries and yes they are so dirty. Even super expensive ones
Can you recommend a childminder please?
My daughter goes to her childminders 3 days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8am until 5pm (but she does have some children until 6pm) It’s called ladybug childminding in Garforth I asked for recommendations in a Facebook group for my local little village and soooo many people recommended this one which is why I went with her I would have a look online if you’re on Facebook and ask for recommendations in a local group to you?
I would say it depends on the nursery I’m happy for you to message as I don’t want to say something and offend people :)
