My baby is 6 weeks and did not have a bowel movement yesterday, last night, or today. Should I be concerned and what should I do?

Are you breastfeeding? If so, it is totally normal for breastfed babies to go a long period without pooping!

Yes I am. Okay that is good to know, thank you!

My baby went 4 days once!! Totally normal for bf babies. lol be prepared for when it finally comes 😵‍💫

I give probiotic to my baby and that’s helps a lot …

@Haley I can’t wait for it to come lol. I’m glad to know it is normal. He was having poop every day so it was surprising to me that he hasn’t had one yet.

@Liz I read somewhere that 6-8 weeks is when babies significantly decrease poops! As long as baby is acting ok and doesn’t seem in a lot of discomfort then let it brew!

Mine is 5 weeks and has been going 1-2 days between poops. On Saturday, she had a large blowout in a parking area in her stroller as we were getting ready to leave a Memorial service. It went everywhere. I swear I used half a pack of wipes to clean it up.

This is a relief. My little guy same thing. Hasn’t pooped in almost 48 hours!! Thought it was odd since most diapers always had a little “shart” in them until now! But he is strictly nursing so this is a relief to know at just over 7 weeks this is pretty common

@Rachel my baby still hasn’t pooped but he is acting normal I’m hoping in comes soon. I read somewhere that it is normal for breastfed babies to only poop once a week. It seems like most of the nutrients are absorbed and a lot of it is water!

We had a similar situation and our LO was combo fed at the time. The pediatrician said it’s normal and if it’s been 5-7 days or they have a hard stomach to the touch then to see them again. Ironically, she pooped right after the call with the pediatrician 🤣

They say it's somewhat normal at this mark. that's what I saw online.

I talked with the babies doctor and he said it is normal. He said he had a patient baby that went 20 days with out a poop and she was perfectly healthy. He said as long as he is passing gas and peeing there is nothing to worry about. He also mentioned some women have “clean” breast milk and that may result in longer times
