Ultrasound reports

Hey mamas, Just wondering how long it typically takes for your OB to send you the ultrasound report or share feedback? Everything has been normal so far, but my OB receives the report and never sends it to me. When I called the receptionist, she said my OB will discuss it at my next appointment or will reach out if there's anything concerning. I’m in my third trimester and just eager to see the report!

Mine never sent it to me. I always had to wait for my appointment. It sucked as I was so curious. I would always ask the ultrasound tech for the weight, length, etc. she was nice and would tell me. Some don’t.

Hey so if you’re in Toronto, (not sure about all places but) I don’t think they send it to you unless you ask for it. Usually they just discuss it at the appointment and tell you the results. I have always had to ask directly for it when I go. They can usually print you a copy and give you before you leave the office as it’s your medical records and you’re entitled to the report but you have to ask. And I ask every single time because I like to keep a copy of all my medical records.

@Sabrina Thank you for sharing, it’s reassuring to know I’m not alone! Based on my previous experience with my OB not sharing the report, I decided to ask the technician about the baby's weight, age, etc. Thankfully, she was really nice and shared the details with me.

@Priy thanks. Yes, I totally agree with you. I ask every time as well! It’s just that I’m in my last trimester now, and my next appointment is two weeks away. I’m so eager to know the results, and waiting two weeks feels tough. But I guess I’ll just have to be patient!

I totally understand! I wonder if maybe you can ask them to email it to you?

I usually sign up for the patient portal where I did the ultrasound so I see it right away. I can also get a copy of the images for keepsake.

I was at Mt. Sinai and the main technician at the ultrasound section would usually go over the results with me and give me a printed copy of the results too. I also signed up for the patient portal and my results would be uploaded there within 3-4 business days (if not sooner). I would go nuts waiting for 2 weeks!!! Can you ask them to call you perhaps? Sometimes my doctors office would do that too, just to reassure me. Sorry you have to wait so long!

@Kelly-Ann That's great that you can get a printed copy the same day and have access to a patient portal. I'm actually getting frustrated because it seems like this is common here, especially with my OB. I called, and the receptionist said I can discuss the report at my next appointment. If the OB hasn't called, there's nothing concerning.
