I need help

I don’t have anyone to talk to. And I want to ask for advice. My son is 3,5 currently in foster care from 1,5 years. I suffered with addictions but worked on myself and have over 10 months clean. Social is putting him on transition plan but I feel that I won’t be able to cope. He has been diagnosed with speech delay, started speaking only in nursery. As I’m currently not working can’t provide him with the 30 hours. He does not follow directions and want things his own way and I’m not really emotionally balanced to keep up with this. I don’t want to give him up but feel I don’t want to mess him up. Does anyone know if he is in long term care will I be able to see him still. And what will be the chances to get him back at a later point. Don’t have friends or family here, no help just me alone. I will not have a break. My heart hurts to say this but please anyone help me with advice. Thank you for reading this.😭😢😣

You will still be able to see him. The children I work with have weekly family contact. I've also worked with one family where the kids went back to their parents after a while. Definitely talk to your social worker because they can likely ensure that he gets nursery time etc as part of your plan.

In my experience it depends on the individual child and there is a potential for adoption, however, sometimes adoptions still have contact with birth family. Due to his age and needs he might stay in long term care. It's really brave of you to realise that you might not be able to do it and it's in your sons best interests to be honest about that with the social workers so not to confuse him before starting any transition plans.
