Leaving heating on

Nit my MIL but my husband Am I in the wrong here. Last night I went to the toilet and touched the radiator and it was on. I checked the thermostat and it was 20oC... at 2.45am! No wonder our 2 year old keeps waking up in the night and I keep tossing and turning. My husband's response was "it was cold when I came to bed" I turn it back to 'summer mode' because if I leave it normal it has a mind of its own and turns itself on, but my husband has kicked off at me and told me not to put it in summer mode as it's October. Literally if we go over the fixed amount I'm making him pay every penny 🙄

I have my heating set at 20 all the time now that it's cooler and the heating turns on if it drops below, otherwise would get too cold in the night

We turn ours down to 16 on a night so if it goes below it clicks on otherwise our son wakes up cold 20 degrees seems a bit high for in the middle of the night, ours is never higher than 19 all winter!

Don’t think there’s anything wrong with having it running but 20deg seems a bit high for the night - most people wouldn’t sleep well with that! We do 19 for daytime and 18 for overnight - and we are people who are always cold!

Nobody’s “in the wrong” here, it’s just different preferences. You and your husband just need to come to a compromise about what temperature you put the heating on at.

I understand where you’re coming from!! Everything is so expensive now, and I try not to turn my heat on until I absolutely have to! And to turn it on at night time seems like such a waste! I don’t have any advice for you becuz it sounds like your husband is stubborn and set in his ways. LOL

None of you is wrong, you just need to sit down and agree on what works for both. Personally I feel that it’s a bit cold for summer mode still (my summer mode is normally set to 7 degrees though). But 20 feels a bit much for this time of year. So just talk and find a middle ground. Having it on for 18 degrees would likely keep it more comfortable without feeling the need to crank it up to 20 all of the sudden.

I'd hate having the heating on at night yuk!

Honestly I feel he did nothing wrong. It's just sth you should discuss with him. He probably felt soo cold definitely and don't forget you have lived with him for a while. So him doing this now shouldn't be seen as stubborn. Im just saying
