Reflux or CMPA

my 6 week old has reflux symptoms of being sick after most feeds (not projectile), squirming/pushing and generally uncomfortable 10 mins after feeds, poos are normal and not mucusy, never had blood in the poo, happy/content during feeding and the period straight after it. We have just started to take omeprazole, still waiting to see effect but friends keeps saying to try and cut out dairy. From what I can see for CMPA symptoms online it doesn’t seem like a cows milk allergy to me; but does anyone have experience of their baby having CMPA with the above symptoms?

Yes. Could be CMPA - they don’t always get blood or rash. Could also be temp lactose intolerance. Probiotics really helped us; plus lactose free formula; plus gripe water. Not cured though, just helped.

My 8 weeks old has reflux as well. Same symptoms like yours. Our doctor prescribed us gaviscon and it started to work after 2 days. We also worried about lactose intolerance but doctor said if gaviscon works than that’s mean she has reflux. She is much more comfortable now. Only problem is the medicine makes her constipated. Try pace feeding and give break and burp your baby. Also I’m keeping my baby upright around 10-15 min before put her in the bed after every feeding. We angled her bed it is also helping. All the best 🌸

Mine has both CMPA and silent reflux. For us there is a clear difference in the symptoms and I’ve proven it now by cutting out dairy for 2 weeks then reintroducing. She had a really bad face rash that flared up after feeds, green mucousy poos, and wheezing after feeds. It all went away when I cut out dairy then came back immediately when I reintroduced it, so I’m no dairy for the long haul now. The silent reflux includes her really struggling when she needs to poo but the poo being normal and frequent, arching her back/ refusing to be laid on her back, milk coming up when she is laid down/ being clearly uncomfortable but swallowing it back down, general fussiness, very frequent small feeds

@Allie thank you - this is so helpful and exactly what I thought! It does sound like reflux for us
